The Colourful Run aims to create ‘togetherness’ in the community.
Runners revelled in vivid colour explosions along the 5km or 10km Rynfield route.
Ashvin Jivan, chairman of Benoni Harriers Athletic Club, said:
“The race was a huge success and Benoni was colourful on a lively spring morning.
“It was nice to see a cross-section of participants this family event .
“We had a really good turn out and the numbers are the least of our concern.
“Our main aim was to get the community out on the streets of Benoni and enjoy the spring morning with some colour.
“The event was jointly hosted by the Vikings Cycling Club and Benoni Harriers Athletic Club and it proved that the two disciplines of sport can form a united front and host a successful event.
“On behalf of the two clubs we would like to thank our sponsors, be it individuals or companies, and most of all the participants who came out in their numbers to make it an enjoyable event.
“This will definitely become an annual event for our town and our intention is to grow the event and get many more families and friends and also licensed runners to come have fun and kick-start the spring season.”
