Easterns want to make impact at home during Africa T20 Cup this weekend

The third edition of the Africa T20 Cup gets underway on August 25 to August 27 with the first pool stage of matches played at Benoni’s Sahara Park Willowmoore.

The Africa T20 Cup is a Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Cricket South Africa.

It features a combination of South African provincial teams and teams representing other African countries, including Kenya, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

The 16 participating teams were split into four pools of four, with the teams from each pool playing all of their matches at one ground across a single weekend.

Pool A (matches played in Benoni) opens the tournament on Friday with Namibia taking on Western Province from 9.30am followed by the match between hosts Easterns and South West Districts (SWD) at 1pm.

SWD and Western Province face-off on Saturday from 9.30am followed by Easterns versus Namibia at 1pm.

Namibia and SWD meet in the first clash on Sunday from 9.30am before Easterns take on Western Province in the final match of the weekend at 1pm.

Pool B (featuring Northerns, Gauteng, North West and defending champions Eastern Province) takes place from September 1 to 3 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

Pool C (featuring Free State, Kenya, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape) takes place from September 8 to 11 at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

Pool D (featuring Boland, KwaZulu-Natal Inland, Border and Zimbabwe) takes place from September 15 to 17 at Buffalo Park in East London.

The semi-finals between the respective pool winners will be played in Kimberley on September 24 followed by the final on September 25.

Easterns, under the tutelage of new head coach Richard das Neves hopes to make an immediate impact in the competition and finish top of Pool A.

A small fee is charged at the gate to Sahara Park Willowmoore over the weekend.
