Rugby ready to debut at Benoni Northerns
The first ever rugby matches will be played at Benoni Northerns Sports Club on Saturday, May 21, and spectators are encouraged to come out in force.
Benoni Northerns Rugby Club (BNRC, former Benoni Rugby Club) will take on Kempton Park in the Valke Rugby Union’s Merlin League on a day which is set to be a humdinger of local sport (the Benoni Football Derby will be played across the road).
The club’s second XV will kick-off their match at 2pm followed by the first team’s encounter at 3.30pm.
All of the matches will be played on the new rugby fields (cricket B-Field, adjacent to John Barrable Hall).
Club chairman Lourens Smit said that BNRC is thrilled and excited to get their new life at Northerns officially underway.
“We hope to see many rugby fanatics at the matches,” he said.
