United students shine

Seventeen learners from the United Martial Arts International Dojo Benoni, situated in Woburn Avenue, will compete in the World Martial Arts Organisation (WMO) World Championships in Ireland, in October.

The learners qualified in the WMO South African Championships held in Kempton Park, on March 4.

The tournament consisted of 250 contestants from around the country, competing for a spot in the SA WMO Team.

President of the United Martial Arts International and World Martial Arts Organisation, shihan Aslam Mahomed said the tournament was a success and most importantly the contestants enjoyed the day.

“This is an excellent achievement,” said Mahomed.

The Dojo team will leave to Ireland, Europe to compete at the WMO world championships in October.

Mahomed added that we wish our SA team all the best and now the hard work starts with the preparation for the world championships.

Mahomed and instructor, Sensei Jackie Naude said they are very proud of the Benoni team for having excellent results and doing exceptionally well at the SA championships.
