Northerns trounce Corinthians

Benoni Northerns Football Club’s first XI won their first Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) season game with 12-0 against Corinthians at the Greek Sporting Club in Bedfordview on Saturday, March 11.

Jannie van den Berg, coach of the first XI, said he was disappointed with the opposition.

“They were just not up to scratch,” van den Berg said.

“We had a good pre-season, and would have liked more competition in our first game of the season.”

Van den Berg felt confident about his team’s prospects for the rest of the season.
