Show support for Benoni Northerns in Club T20 final

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club’s (BNCC) Premier XI set up a Wednesday night (February 1) Eastern Cricket Club T20 Competition final date with adversaries Kempton Park at Sahara Park Willowmoore’s main oval.

This comes after BNCC enjoyed a double dose of victories in their quarter final versus United and semi-final against Alberton in Boksburg on Sunday, January 29.

In the quarter final (reduced to 15 overs both ways) BNCC chased down the 104-run target set by United in 11.1 overs to win by seven wickets.

Ernest Kemm was the best of the Northerns bowlers with figures of 2/15 in three overs.

Rhenier Jordaan (29 runs from 24 deliveries), Kemm (24 runs from 20 deliveries) and Tian van der Walt (21 runs not out from 12 balls) top-scored with the bat as BNCC advanced to the semi-final.

This is where they again proved their chasing ability.

Alberton scored 150/6 in their 20-over innings, but could not prevent BNCC from chasing their score down in 14.2 overs.

Young spinner WP Myburgh (2/20 in four overs) and Stefan Jordaan (2/37 in four overs) were the chief destroyers with the ball for BNCC.

Mark Robey (who smashed 53 runs not out off 31 deliveries), Kemm (36 runs off 18 balls) and van der Walt (25 runs off 16 balls) guided Northerns to the final with the willow.

Coach Nicolaos Moragemos called for massive support for BNCC at Sahara Park Willowmoore on Wednesday night.

The match is scheduled to be played at 6.30pm.
