Raising funds for Farrarmere Primary School

A mountain bike race and trail run event, to raise funds for Farrarmere Primary School's 40th birthday, took place at the Benoni Country Club on October 30.

The annual event was supported by learners and parents from Farrarmere Primary and other areas.

“It’s always good to see our parents and children participating in events together outside school,” said Fiona Stansfeld, principal of Farrarmere Primary School.

“The involvement of the community, too, is always great,” she said.

This year’s event also included a fun run, with the oldest runner being 74 years old and the youngest participant five years old.

The cycling was split into three race categories – 30 km, 17km and the 5km distance.

The run was split into two categories – 8km and the 5km trail run.

Learners sold raffle tickets for prizes such as bicycles and holiday packages.

With a spirit of good competition in the air, there was anticipation around who would be the first to cross the finish line.
