Over 520 riders leap to the Challenge at Dunblane

The recent 2016 Dunblane Pre Derby and Yard Challenge at Dunblane Equestrian Centre was a great success with over 520 riders having entered the show and over 1 000 spectators witnessing the action.

With a total of R50 000 in prize money up for grabs a number of challengers would give their best shot on the course built by Kate Launder and Arnold Botha.

“It is always amazing to watch the yards showcase their riders’ and horses’ abilities as well as the camaraderie and team spirit between the yards,” said Brigitte Karels, owner of the Dunblane Equestrian Centre.

“A good day was had by all, with the winning yard for 2016 being Vega Equestrian.

“The 2017 Challenge will be even bigger and better,” added Karels.

She thanked the numerous sponsors who made the event possible.

Most entries for the show: 1 Yahweh 76 entries, 2 Weltmeyer 56 entries, 3 Dunblane and Sunny Park 44 entries, 4 Crystal Ridge and Winstead 32 entries.

Most prizes won on the day: 1 Jason Phillips and Sunny Park Stables 11, 2 Winstead and Yahweh 10, 3 Crystal Ridge 9, 4 Pretoria Eq 5.
