Boys bring bronze back to Benoni
Benoni Northerns Junior Hockey Club’s (BNJH) u-13 boys’ team brought home a bronze medal, after finishing third at the Southern Gauteng Junior Hockey Association’s (SGJHA) u-13 Champion of Champions tournament, on Saturday, September 10.
The club’s u-13 girls’ team finished eighth.
This was the final tournament of the year for the u-13 age group, and all the clubs associated to SGJHA put out their top sides to play for the coveted trophy for the year.
“As coach for the u-13 boys, and as chairman of Benoni Northerns’ hockey section, I am extremely proud of the u-13 age group this year,” said Shaun Taylor.
“Thank you to everyone involved with the u-13 age group this year, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
“I would also like to congratulate our own Jenna Harris and Sean van Wyk, who were both complimented on their umpiring at Champ of Champs.
“It is great to see the youth getting involved with the umpiring of the game.”
