Clubs to take on varsities in Kempton to open cricket season

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club (BNCC) will be one of six teams taking on the second annual T20 Challenge at Kempton Park Cricket Club’s Barnard Stadium home base from Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September 18.

The T20 tournament will see six powerhouse teams in action over the three days and is set to be an enthralling precursor to the 2016/2017 cricket season.

In keeping with the characteristics of a T20 tournament the teams will don coloured kit and play with the white cricket ball.

What makes this tournament interesting is that the club teams of Kempton, BNCC and CBC Pretoria will be tested to the maximum by the varsity teams of the University of Johannesburg (UJ, who will field two teams) and North West University (Pukke).

Pool One consists of UJ 1, CBC Pretoria and Benoni Northerns while Pool Two features Pukke, Kempton Park and UJ 2.
