Ebotse CEO invites you to charity golf day

Hein Papenfus, CEO of Ebotse Links, wants you to come on down and to get involved with the Benoni City Times and Buco Rietpan Charity Golf Day to be held at the course on Thursday, September 1.

The golf day will take place in aid of two local non-profit organisations, LifeLine Ekurhuleni and Animal Lovers Project Swing (Alps).

Papenfus told the City Times that Ebotse Links is extremely excited to provide the setting of the annual fund-raiser.

“We [Ebotse] are quite strong on supporting community projects.

“We believe that we are part of the community and we want to be involved with our community.

“Part of the whole thing is about raising funds and awareness for these charities.”

He added that the golf day also provides the platform to showcase the facilities at Ebotse Links.

“A lot of people out there don’t know that Ebotse is approachable and open to the public.

“It gives us the opportunity to let people know that that is the case.”

Asked what participating golfers can expect upon arrival at Ebotse, Papenfus said: “There will always be five-star service from our outside staff to the pro shop to the wonderful change rooms to the extremely good cuisine and probably one of the best golf courses in South Africa.”

With regards to life on the course itself, the CEO commented: “The links is playing like a true links at the moment.

“It is hard and it is dry and the ball is running, so even the short hitters can hit it long.

“The run can also bring you into trouble because it is playing like a true links.

“Our greens are top, top-notch and have got to be up there as the top in the country.”

For those club-swingers who have never played at Ebotse Papenfus encouraged them to try out something different at the only inland golf course in the land.

“It is not your traditional parkland golf course.

“It has a completely different look and feel and is something that is very unique.

“Come and play Ebotse so that you can feel what traditional golf is all about.

“That’s how they have played the sport in Scotland for thousands of years.”
