Ebotse’s superintendent to attend John Deere Classic

Hardus Maritz, the superintendent at Ebotse Links, has been invited to participate in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am, over the TPC Deere Run course, in Silvis, Illinois, USA, on August 8.

The Classic forms part of the PGA Tour, which is the largest professional golf tour in the world.

As the superintendent, he is responsible for the maintenance of the golf course and all issues relating to this.

Maritz, who was rated as one of the best superintendents in South Africa, has been a loyal client of John Deere for 15 years and has been extensively involved in promoting the brand.

So, it was only natural for him to be invited to play the Classic.

He said that it is going to be an exceptional experience for him.

“To play the golf course, which I have seen only on TV, is going to be very special,” he added.

Much to his delight, Maritz will also be visiting the John Deere factory, to see how the equipment is manufactured.

“Being a John Deere fan for many years, it is going to be an absolute pleasure to witness this,” he said.

Having their superintendent chosen for the John Deere Classic is a great honour for the Ebotse Links Golf Course, as it reaffirms that the course is a state-of-the-art facility and its employees of the highest echelons.

Furthermore, the interaction at the John Deere factory will bring Maritz back with new knowledge of the latest technology and best buys – allowing him to make Ebotse Links even better than before.

Protea cricket legend Jacques Kallis, when he played the course a few weeks ago, complimented Maritz, saying Ebotse had “the best greens he has played on in a long time”.

Maritz encouraged people to take part in the Benoni City Times Buco Rietpan Charity Golf Day on Thursday, September 1, to enjoy the famous Ebotse greens and the course in general.
