BNCC to hold junior cricket trials

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club (BNCC) will soon hold their junior trials for the upcoming 2016/2017 Eastern Cricket Union season.

The trials are scheduled for Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, at the Benoni Northerns cricket nets in Brodigan Street as follows:

Trials for u-12 cricketers (players born in 2004 and 2005) will take place on the Saturday from 8.30am to 11.30am, while u-14 cricketers (players born in 2002 and 2003) will have their trials on the same day from noon to 3pm.

Trials will take place on the Sunday for u-8 players (born in 2008 or earlier) from 8.30am to 11.30am, while u-10 players (players born in 2006 and 2007) can showcase their skills on the same day from noon to 3pm.

All players will need to register for trials on the day.

Players from other clubs who would to join BNCC are urged to bring along their signed transfer forms.

All new members are encouraged to bring along a copy of their birth certificate and a copy of their parents’ ID.

A non-refundable trial fee will be charged and payable in cash on the day for all players attending.

Food and drinks will also be on sale.

Players are reminded to adhere to the club selection/trials protocol to be enforced on the day.

Dress code is to be strictly adhered to, failing which a player may be denied to participate in the trials.

Players must wear a predominantly white shirt (no provincial representation to be on the shirt) or Benoni Northerns cricket shirts may be worn.

Black or white, long or short tracksuit type pants must also be worn.

Players must bring a used red cricket ball: 113g (u-8 and u-10), 135g (u-12), 156g (u-14).

No new ball will be allowed and no pink, white or other colour ball will be allowed.

Players who are unable to attend on the specified dates must send an email with their details (player name, age group and contact details) to Jason Clark at jasonclark@mweb.co.za.

Committee members will be available on the days to discuss all matters relating to the new season.
