Hats off for Harriers’ Comrades runners

Benoni Harriers Athletics Club celebrated their 2016 Comrades Marathon conquerors and their overall running season at their annual Aches and Pains party at Summer Place in Boksburg on the night of Saturday, July 2.

Harriers’ Melissa Barnard (first woman home at Comrades), Fanie Mphuthi (second runner home at Comrades), Ashvin Jivan (chairman) and Mosongo Mokoatsi (first male home at Comrades) share a smile.
Benoni Harriers Athletics Club’s running captain Dawie du Toit is the club’s 2016 Runner of the Year as well as the first recipient of the newly introduced Top Gun Award.
Team Shongololo, made up of runners from Benoni Northerns and Benoni Harriers athletics clubs, was celebrated for bringing the 15m-long green worm home in sub-11 hours on its Comrades debut.
