Title hopes still alive for smooth Smith

Rynfield’s Slade Smith (15) raced in the third round of the MSA South African National Motocross Championships, this past weekend, in Bloemfontein.

Having had some bad luck earlier in the year, when he broke his arm taking part in the Daytona Supercross in Florida, USA, he came back and thrashed the competition in the 125cc High School Class, against some extremely stiff competition, at the BORC Tempe MX Circuit, on his ABE Midas 125cc Husqvarna.

He started the day with the fastest lap time in practise by two clear seconds, then went on to win heat one from holeshot to finish and never looked back.

The second heat was a little tricky for Smith, as he was boxed in at the start and came from fourth to first in absolutely fine style, with what he’s now become known for, his calculated, smooth riding style.

Riding his ABE Midas Husqvarna, Smith’s 2016 SA Championship 125 High School title hope is still alive, despite his bad luck at the beginning of the year putting him behind on points.

He hopes to not only win the SA national title this year, as he did in the Pro Mini Class in 2015, but also to return to Mini Os in November, in Florida, USA, the largest amateur motocross race in the world, to try to better his third overall finish there last year.
