Glory for Grobler and SuperSport United

SuperSport United (SSU) striker and former Benoni High School pupil Bradley Grobler (28) is a delighted man after his team lifted the Nedbank Cup, on Saturday, May 28.

The club held on to defeat Orlando Pirates 3-2 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Polokwane, to claim the trophy and gain automatic qualification to the 2017 CAF Confederations Cup.

Grobler himself was on the score-sheet with a well-taken, first-half volleyed strike.

“Scoring in games like that cannot be described in words,” Grobler said.

He told the City Times that winning the Nedbank Cup is an amazing feeling, especially after the bad start the team had to the season under previous coach Gordon Igesund.

He has hit his straps since the arrival of coach Stuart Baxter and has enjoyed an impressive streak of goals that has earned him a new three-year contract with SuperSport United.

“Things have really turned around for me since Stuart came in and I am enjoying my game under him,” added the striker.

“I think that the way he wants us to play really suits my style.”

Grobler also has his sights set on some personal goals for the next campaign.

“I’m looking forward to starting the new season where I have ended off.

“Another goal that I have always had is to get back into the Bafana Bafana squad.

“As for team goals I want to win more silverware with the club and I am extremely confident of doing that next season.”
