A point apiece in Kempton

Benoni Northerns Football Club’s (BNFC) first XI travelled to neighbouring Kempton Park for an away day ELFA Super League clash on Saturday, May 7.

The result ended in a 1-1 draw.

It was always going to be a tricky encounter for coach Jannie van den Berg and his team particularly with the absence of experienced skipper Wade Marshall through suspension.

Van den Berg’s men were left ruing missed goal-scoring opportunities and according to the coach “could have easily bagged two or three more goals”.

“We were a bit uneasy at times, but at least we did better away in Kempton Park than how we did last year [where they lost 2-1],” he said.

Northerns’ goal came from young second half substitution Seven Ndlangamandla who found the back of the net with his first touch of the match.

The Benoni outfit will hope to get back to winning ways when they travel to Primrose to play Luso Africa.

The two clubs have a lot of history between them with a few former BNFC players now featuring in the Luso squad.
