Calypso Brothers boogie to Roses rhythm
The new-look Battle of the Roses tournament, the Easterns Cricket Union’s club franchise T20 tournament, was a real humdinger this weekend.
Six Easterns club franchises (Rising Stars, BN Freight Bombers, Wildfire, Samurai, Calypso Brothers and Jets) wrestled it out for top honours at the union’s Willowmoore Park headquarters.
Matches were played from Friday, April 8, to Sunday, April 10.
The teams comprised of a mixture of the top club cricketers in the region and in a number of instances long-time club rivals became teammates.
Calypso Brothers, a powerful squad, went unbeaten throughout the tournament, to lift the trophy after a win in the final against Wildfire, on Sunday.
The team entertained supporters by playing excellent cricket with terrific flair and a tangible team spirit.
