Ebotse’s best rise to the occasion

Ebotse Links held their annual club championships at the course over the weekend of March 5 and 6.

Craig Stickling, club professional said: “In the eight years that I have been here it is probably the best that I have ever seen our golf course

“It really was in immaculate condition.”

The club pro added that the course was challenging over the two days due to extremely hot conditions, but, as always, the better golfers always rise to the occasion with good scores.

Jaco Rall emerged as the men’s A-Division winner while exciting prospect Casandra Hall claimed honours in the women’s A-Division.

Both golfers have now won their respective divisions for three years in succession.

Stickling added that the stand-out round from his point of view belonged to the club’s upcoming junior golfer Jayden Schaper (15) who shot 68 on the final day to claw his way back to finish in a respectable second position behind Rall.

“A special note must also be made to 77-year-old Colin Barbour who finished second in the men’s C-Division with a total of 63 points over the days, playing off 17 handicap, which is quite remarkable,” added Stickling.

He also thanked the sponsors of Mercedes Benz East Rand, Taylormade/Adidas Golf, Parker Store and Wiesenhof.
