Spurs succumb to Kempton

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s (ASCC) Premier XI put up a valiant fight against a title-chasing Kempton Park side at the Barnard Stadium on Sunday, March 6.

After winning the toss and batting first, the hosts raced to 72 for no loss after 10 overs.

Kempton players hit a rough patch following the bowling changes and found themselves at 149/6 as their run rate dropped.

Louis Geldenhuys, however, came to the party for Kempton and made 66 runs lower down the order to boost the home team to 268/9.

Kyle Degambur (47) and Vyasan Govender (39) put on a strong stand to take Actonville to a score of 95/1, but fingers were pointed at the umpires in the middle for some apparently dodgy decisions as ASCC fell into trouble with the bat.

CJ van der Walt made 45 in vain as the visiting Actonville outfit was bowled all out for 217 runs to hand Kempton the win.

Casey Arnold was the star performer with the cherry as he picked up statistics of 4/34.
