Our fair(way) ladies represent Benoni at Ladies Joburg Open

Benoni-based golfers (amateur and professional) were well represented at the recent Ladies Joburg Open.

The Sunshine Ladies Tour event, held at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club’s West Course, from Monday, January 18, to Wednesday, January 20, was won by Lee Ann Pace.

Ebotse Links professional Nicole Garcia was the best placed golfer from a local club.

She finished in 11th position overall, with a par overall score of 216 over her three rounds.

Garcia shot rounds of 73, 73 and 70 over the three days.

Another professional from a local club was Lejan Lewthwaite, of Lake Club Benoni.

She made her pro debut at the tournament and finished in 14th position, with a five-over-par overall score of 221, with rounds of 74, 78 and 69.

Amateur Casandra Hall (16), from Ebotse Links, finished on a total score of 240, with rounds of 80, 79 and 81.

She finished 36th in the total field and ninth among the amateurs.

At the time of going to press, both Garcia and Lewthwaite were competing at the Chase to the Investec Cup event, at Houghton Golf Club, while Hall will be back on the fairways and is hoping to earn valuable ranking points at the Tshwane Ladies Open, at Zwartkop Country Club, to be held from Monday, February 1, to Wednesday, February 4.
