Tonight’s race will be a glowing affair

The 2015 Rowlin National Glow Run takes place tonight (Wednesday, November 4).

The well known race is a favourite on the running calendar and is a truly festive community event.

The glow run, organised by Benoni Northerns Athletics Club, will be held in memory of the late Nathan Miles who was an ardent participant.

The 2015 Rowlin National Night Race will be run in honour of the late Nathan Miles, who was a huge fan of running it. He is seen about to take on the 5km fun run at last year’s night race, with Inga Barnes.

Every year the race attracts numerous road runners (and walkers), from all walks of life, to its 5km fun run and the 10km and 15km events, and is run in accordance with Athletics South Africa (ASA) and Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) rules.

Entries are taken at the start of the race at the club, in Brodigan Street, from 5pm, while online entries have closed.

Registrations will also be sold from the Benoni Northerns main club office from 8.30am.

Home-owners along the route and community members in general are encouraged to show their support for the runners in the spirit of Christmas.

All finishers will receive medals.

As it is is a glow run, runners should wear something luminous.

There will be a prize for the best dressed runner

Motorists and home-owners are urged to take note that certain roads will be affected on the night.
