Northerns FC lose in Alberton

Coach Jannie van den Berg’s team travelled to Alberton and, despite a good showing, particularly in the second half, they returned to Benoni without any points following a 2-1 defeat.

The team is still visibly in need of an out-and-out striker, as numerous good chances were again not converted.

Alberton opened the scoring from the penalty spot, after what the BNFC coach called “another dubious penalty”, and made it 2-0 following a defensive mix up from the Northerns backs.

The Benoni outfit would get a goal in a second half, where they dominated play, but they could not find the equaliser.

They will play Bedfordview Country Club (BCC), at Northerns, on Saturday, July 11.
