So far, this year, he has won all four rounds of the Rotax Junior Class, in the Gauteng Regional Karting Championships.
Thompson also finished fifth in the Cape Town South African National Karting Championships, in April.
He has also competed in the Euro Rotax series in Europe (in Spain, France and Italy) and made the finals in two rounds, finishing 14th and 12th of 60 drivers.
In the last round, in Italy, he was in pole position, but he was taken out on the first corner and, unfortunately, did not make the final.
He was, however, consistently in the top six fastest drivers over the course of that week.
On Saturday, June 13, the Benonian took triple victories as he continued his domination of the 125cc High School Junior Max class, at the Gauteng Regional Championship, in Vereeniging.
