First, last minute goals down Bens

Goals in the first and final minute of the game saw Old Bens Football Club’s first XI lose 2-0 to Highlands Park, in their ELFA Super League clash, on Saturday, June 27 at Currin Park.

Coach Raymond Cloete was again forced to field a significantly weaker side against the third best placed team on the league table.

Cloete played five u-20 players in his team on Saturday.

“The first goal caught us cold,” said the coach.

“Their second goal came when we were pushing hard for an equaliser in the last minute.”

“Highlands Park is an extremely good team and, although I am not happy with the result, I’m pleased with the performance of the youngsters who were called up,” Cloete added.

The team is scheduled to play Kempton Park away on Saturday, July 4, however, there is a strong possibility that the encounter will be postponed to a later date as the Kempton coach is critical in hospital.
