Aim for the green in aid of charity

The exquisite Ebotse Links will once again provide the tranquil backdrop for the 2015 Benoni City Times and Buco Rietpan Charity Golf Day, in conjunction with marketing partner Heypenni Gold, on Wednesday, September 9.

This year, the South African Guide Dogs Association for the Blind and Kids Haven will benefit from funds raised on the day.

The day also offers excellent local business networking opportunities.

So, why choose to play at Ebotse Links?

Designed by Matkovich Hayes golf course architects, the Ebotse Links is currently ranked 37 by Golf Digest South Africa.

The beautiful course has seven holes on water and has been built to US PGA specifications with a 6372 metre par 72-rating — from back tees 74.

Surrounding Rynfield Dam, the Ebotse Links boasts a truly unique driving range in a man-made lake experienced by few golfers.

What was once a quarry, has been dramatically transformed into a driving range, where golfers are able to hit floating balls into the lake.

Another major plus for golfers of all levels is Ebotse’s four spectacular short holes, each of which offers its own unique challenge

The style of play on a links golf course is quite different from the style required on other types of courses.

The challenges of links golf focus on uneven fairways, thick rough and small deep bunkers known as “pot bunkers” — and frequently windy conditions.

These conditions affect the style of play required, favouring golfers who are able to play low, and accurate shots.

It’s quite simple really, if you haven’t played at this gem of a course, then what are you waiting for?

Spruce up your clubs and join us at the 2015 Benoni City Times and Buco Rietpan Charity Golf Day – it’s going to be a “hole” lot of fun.
