Bens pick up a point versus BCC

It’s been a decent few weeks for Old Bens Football Club’s first XI in the ELFA Super League.

Coach Raymond Cloete’s men picked up a point with a 1-1 draw at home, against Bedfordview Country Club (BCC), on Saturday, May 23.

Old Bens could have taken maximum points from the encounter, but for a defensive error about five minutes from time, that allowed BCC in to equalise.

This came after Bens opened the scoring in the first half of the clash, courtesy of another league goal from striker Bilal Mohammed, who has been scoring for fun in the competition.

He picked up the ball from the halfway line and took on a number of players before guiding it past the BCC goalkeeper.

Both teams had numerous opportunities to score, but both their shot-stoppers were impressive between the poles.

Cloete said he is happy with the way the team has progressed and is hoping to take that momentum into this Saturday’s “Benoni Derby”, against Benoni Northerns.
