High quality bowls in Bloem
The Ekurhuleni Bowls u-19 teams recently took part in the Bowls South Africa U-19 Development Tournament, in Bloemfontein, from April 6 to 10.
The U-19 Development Tournament is run by Bowls South Africa on an annual basis and was contested with four sections of eight teams (total of 128 youngsters), in Bloemfontein.
Three teams of fours players represented Ekurhuleni, together with 28 others teams from all over South Africa.
Section winners then played a semi-final and the winners contested the final.
Ekurhuleni A won their section and semi-final, but lost in the final to KwaZulu-Natal and ended up as silver medallists.
Ekurhuleni B finished third in their section, while Ekurhuleni C finished fifth in their section.
Team manager Jenny Jones said: “It was fantastic to see all the youngsters playing high quality bowls and having fun at the same time.
“On behalf of the players and managers, we would like to thank the executive, sponsors and bowls community in Ekurhuleni for their support.”
