Keep your eye on Kaltenbrunn

Benoni athlete Robyn Kaltenbrunn had a fantastic 2014.

The Benoni High School pupil who is now in matric, ended the year with a second-place finish in the u-17 cross-country event at the SA School Games in December.

She qualified for the event by winning the local D17 School cross-country event when she represented the D17 district in the Gauteng School Championship and finished third.

Kaltenbrunn added to this achievement by finishing in third place in the SA Club Cross-Country Championship.

The young athlete also participated in numerous road races throughout the year and finished many of her races as either the first junior finisher or, on numerous occasions, in the top three senior women category.

She finished in the top three women category at the Johnson Crane Marathon and Rowlin National Night Race and was the first junior and fifth woman home at the Liquifruit Irene 10km.

Kaltenbrunn again claimed first in the junior category at the Sportsmans Warehouse 15km and was also the fourth woman to cross the finish line.

She claimed second spot in the junior finisher category at the Spar Women’s Challenge in Pretoria and was the 18th overall finisher.

Kaltenbrunn also flew the provincial flag for Gauteng in the 3000m event at the SA Track and Field Championship in Cape Town where she finished in eighth position.

The future is bright for Kaltenbrunn and she is hoping to take her performances to the next level in 2015.
