CBC Old Boys win ASPL T20

CBC Old Boys win the ASPL T20 competition at Lords Cricket Grounds in Actonville.

The finals of the ASPL T20 competition, organised by Actonville Spurs Cricket Club as a warm-up to the new cricket season, were held on Sunday, August 31.

The hosts were knocked out of the tournament after they lost the final round robin match on Saturday, August 30, by MAQ XI.

This meant that MAQ XI would meet Lenz Lions in the semi-finals of the competition, while the other semi-final was played between CBC Old Boys and Yorkburg.

In the latter match it was CBC Old Boys who would advance to the final and win by one wicket.

In the former match it was MAQ XI who would emerge victorious over Lenz Lions by two wickets.

This meant that the final would be played between CBC Old Boys and MAQ XI.

CBC’s Wesley Coulentianos smashed his way to a score of 65 and helped to take his team to a total score of 180/5 in their 20 overs.

Not even Imraan Divan’s 63 runs could help MAQ XI over the line as they were bowled out for 132.

CBC Old Boys were crowned champions for 2014.

The player of the tournament was Divan, who scored 218 runs and scored one century.

Actonville’s senior and junior teams will also be playing more friendly games in September.
