EFC Africa 32 is a real humdinger

The EFC Africa 32 fights at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena took place on Thursday, August 7, and will be long remembered as a night packed with sensational clashes.

Two title fights headlined the event: the welterweight title defence by Henry “Herculeez” Fadipe and Adam “The Prodigy” Speechly, and the clash between East Rand boys Boyd Allen (Springs) and Boksburg’s Barend “BB Gun” Nienaber, for the vacant featherweight title.

Speechly upset the bookmakers by beating the champion via unanimous decision after five rounds.

Boyd Allen’s journey to the featherweight title finally ended when he kept his composure and attacked a courageous and highly competitive Nienaber fiercely, before taking his opponent’s back and sinking a rear naked choke to seal his victory.

JP Kruger, fighting out of Raymond Phillips’s Brakpan-based Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies (XKT) Pro League, made his return to the cage in the light heavyweight division and came out on the winning side after three rounds against Liam Cleland, when the judges delivered a somewhat controversial split decision victory to Kruger.
