Actonville annihilate Duduza

Following a big defeat by Eastern Premier League log-leaders Kempton Park Cricket Club, on Sunday, January 26, Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s Premier XI made the best possible return to winning ways with a resounding victory, at home, to Duduza, on Sunday, February 2.

Actonville Spurs batted first and posted a daunting score of 271/8, with the home team’s batsmen smashing the visitors’ bowlers to all parts of Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Gerhard Vosloo made a welcome return to the team after an almost two-month absence, due to injury, and played an excellent innings of 88 runs on his return.

Clayton August was next the best with the willow for Actonville, with a score of 58.

Duduza were never at the races and their final score of 51 all out was testament to that.

Imran Manack (an Eastern semi-professional player) was one of the star performers with the ball, and picked up bowling figures of four wickets for 11 runs, while Xolile Nkomo followed suit by also claiming four wickets and conceding just six runs.

The Actonville bowlers tore through a hapless Duduza batting lineup and secured a comprehensive win in the end by 220 runs.

The Premier XI will play KwaThema at Lords Cricket Grounds, on Sunday, February 9, with the first delivery scheduled to be bowled at 9.30am.

  • The club will also host an u-10 six-a-side tournament on Saturday, March 8, with play starting at 8am.
