Perfect start for Actonville Prems

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s Premier XI got off to an excellent start in the Easterns Premier League, on Sunday, October 6, with a five-wicket victory over KwaThema, on the Willowmoore Park B-Field.

Spurs captain Theo Naidoo won the toss and opted to field first.

KwaThema put on a score of 201/6, but the Actonville bowlers performed well and managed to restrict their opposition to an achievable target.

The only resistance from KwaThema’s batsmen came from Njabulo Zondi, who scored 67 not out.

Spurs secured victory after chasing down the score in 41.1 overs, with a final score of 205/5.

After losing two early wickets Imran Manack (95*) and Gerhard Vosloo (70) formed a partnership of 87 that stabilised the innings.

Standout bowling for Actonville came from Xolile Nkomo 1/15, Clayton August 1/21 and Theo Naidoo 1/23.

The Premier team will next play Duduza, at Lords Cricket Grounds,in Actonville,on Sunday, October 13.

In other senior results,the club’s Director’s team lost by seven wickets to Springs Old Boys,in a T20 match,and the President’s League team won by 85 runs against United Cricket Club.

Actonville’s junior teams (u-8, u-12, u-12Bs and u-14s) lost their matches.
