Valke throw it away against Eagles

The Valke gave up a big lead against South Western District (SWD) Eagles, in their Currie Cup First Division match, at the Barnard Stadium, in Kempton Park, on Friday, July 12.

Inside centre Willie Odendal scored a hat-trick in the first 40 minutes and the home team went into the halftime break with a 25-10 lead.

The Valke appeared to have buried their opponents in the second half, when they scored a try three minutes into the half.

Even after the Eagles had a player sent off and were down to 10 men, the team from George never gave up and managed to overturn the lead with a number of tries, leaving the East Rand team wondering how they had lost this one.
