Consider letting residents remain on old municipal meters

My fear is running out of prepaid electricity at any time, most particularly at night while asleep.

I wish to comment on the switch to prepaid meters featured in the April 30 edition.

I would like Zweli Dlamini to advise if he has considered residents who would prefer to remain on the old municipal meters.

I am a 73-year-old pensioner who is on life-support oxygen machines 24/7.

My fear is running out of prepaid electricity at any time, most particularly at night while asleep.

No electricity equals no oxygen, the result of which is obvious

I live alone and don’t have anyone to send to the corner shop to buy electricity. I am also technologically impaired.

A power outage brings on a panic attack and results in going to the hospital for oxygen. Now with Covid-19, it’s not possible anymore, so I have to rent a generator.

Dlamini, please consider the many Benoni residents who are in similar circumstances, our lives are dependent on a continuous electricity supply.

What do you suggest we do?
