Please have a look at traffic light

"If they could change the settings to allow people onto the highway for a longer time this would definitely improve the backlog on Pretoria Road."

Sylvia Fanucchi writes:

I would like to lodge some concern about the traffic at the Snake Road traffic light at the on-ramp to the N12 west.

The traffic is bad at the best of times and is now exacerbated by the sinkhole further down the road.

The traffic light at this on-ramp is not set correctly for the volume of traffic.

It needs to be green for a far longer period of time.

What makes it even more frustrating is the light is not in sync with the light further down the road. When that light is red and there is no oncoming traffic coming down Snake Road, the people waiting to turn onto the N12 still cannot go because the light is red!

We have to sit and watch the cars come down the road and stop at our light before our light goes green and lets us pass.

Please can the traffic department take a look at this light?

If they could change the settings to allow people onto the highway for a longer time this would definitely improve the backlog on Pretoria Road.

I have tried contacting the traffic department about this years ago, but I have never received any response. Would you be able to follow up?

Editor’s note:

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the current signal timing plans have been in operation for more than five years with no traffic signal operations-related complaints received.

“It is not good practice to investigate traffic-related matters when schools are not fully in operation. We will, therefore, investigate if the timing plans need to be reviewed or not in January 2020 (after the school holidays and traffic patterns are back to normal).”
