New development on the cards in Brentwood Park

“The second development will be along Atlas Road and have its entrance at De Haviland Street next to the big electricity substation.”

Sandra writes:

We understand the open field on the corners of Brentwood Park Road, Finch Street and Atlas Road is going to be changed to an office complex and the road is going to be made bigger.

Why does nobody know about this?

We would like to know everything and when the building is going to start.

Everything is apparently approved, according to Atlasville and André du Plessis.

It would be fantastic if the open field was no more.

Editor’s note:

According to Ekurhuleni metro’s spokesperson Themba Gadebe there are two applications under consideration.

“The proposed PWV 15 splits the property into two portions, the portion to the west of the PWV adjacent to the Atlasville Substation will be developed with commercial stands.

“While the other portion to the east of the PWV will be developed with mini-storage units and townhouses.”

He added that the applications must still serve at the Developmental Tribunal and after a decision has been taken, the developer needs to finalise the township establishment process before construction can start.

“The applicant complied with the public participation process set out in the relevant legislation as the applications were advertised in the Provincial Gazette and two newspapers, as well as a site notice placed on the property,”said Gadebe.

Ward 23 Clr André du Plesiss said Brentwood Park Road will not be made any wider.

“One development along Brentwood Park Road will have its entrance at the three-way intersection of Ekster street and Brentwood Park Road, this development will stretch from Finch Street past Ekster Street.

He added that the proposed PWV 15 highway will run from the N12 Atlas Road off-ramp in a northerly direction past the Caltex garage at the Mercury Street intersection, passing over the open area where the circus is normally situated, at the corner of Atlas Road and Finch Street, travelling between these new developments along Atlas and Brentwood Park roads, past the back of Clearwater Estates to the west of the new Brentwood Pick n Pay, through Pomona and finally linking up with the R21 at the Pomona off/on-ramp.
