Benoni car guard comes to woman’s aid

I rely on car guards to assist me.

Gloria Solan writes:

I constantly see letters regarding car guards and how useless they are and that they are probably hand in glove with thieves, to name a few of the comments.

Guards not necessary

Well, I rely on the car guards to assist me.

I have back problems and I really battle to pack my parcels into the boot and in most instances, I have only had good interactions with these guys.

I have got to know some really well and know their stories and how they battle to make a living as car guards.

They could have decided to stand on a street corner and beg.

I can tell you that I have seen many an accident avoided because of them.

At times they have even had to bang on the cars to stop the driver.

On a recent Friday I went to Northmead Square and the gentleman came running to show me where to park.

He greeted me pleasantly and I set off shopping.

When I came out he rushed to help me with my trolley as it is downhill all the way.

He then told me that a car had driven into my car while I was shopping.

He said he told the young guy not to park next to me as the parking was tight, but he tried anyway and knocked my vehicle.

It was not huge damage, but damage nevertheless.

He had a cellphone in his hand and he had, in fact, taken a photo of the other vehicle, a picture of the registration on the front window, a picture of the damage and the name and phone number of the driver of the other vehicle.

I was so impressed with his actions.

So, I’d like to advise people not to paint everyone with the same brush.

No matter what job you do, be the best person you can at doing that job – people will notice.
