Local veterinarian praised for compassion, saving dog’s life

‘A grateful family’ writes:

I have a miracle story to share that I am certain is not only going to impact other people but save the lives of our beloved pets.

A few weeks ago our four-month-old Maltese poodle was diagnosed with the parvovirus virus – a deadly virus that has claimed the lives of many animals.

We took our Maltese to a local vet in Benoni and had the parvo test done and unfortunately he tested positive.

We were not in the position financially to meet the financial request of this particular veterinarian to have him hospitalised.

There was no compassion and we did not feel that this practice had any interest in the life of our dog, but solely on their finances.

As the days went by he, unfortunately, began to get worse.

On a Thursday, we decided that he needed to be euthanised because we could not afford his treatment and we did not want to prolong his suffering.

We went on Thursday night to have him put down and, by some miracle, this place was closed so we left and decided to return the next morning.

Our children were devastated.

They said goodbye to him on Friday morning as we were going to put him down.

Minutes before we left, a friend called and told us about this amazing doctor in Benoni.

We took our puppy to him and immediately this doctor put up an IV and gave the puppy medication.

His compassion and love for animals could be seen immediately and he kept our dog overnight and we fetched him the next day and continued with his medication at home.

We took him back to the doctor on Monday for some medication and to be monitored and, miraculously, our precious dog has recovered and he’s doing amazing.

The doctor and his team are amazing; they have a passion for these animals and they treat them with so much love.

They also treat the owners with respect and our experience from the reception to the exam room was amazing.

There are still professionals who are passionate about what they do and haven’t lost sight of what’s important.

We will be forever grateful to the doctor and his team for what they have done for our precious puppy.

Editor’s note:

The name of the doctor and practice was removed at the request of the veterinarian practice.
