Post office service lacking

Graham Curtis writes:

It has been several months since the post boxes have been moved from their temporary position at Northmead Square to their permanent position.

Since their repositioning I have been to the post office to obtain keys as the post box locks were mixed up in the process of moving the boxes, only to be asked to come back another day, without much luck.

I have been backwards and forwards nine times with no joy.

One of the excuses given by the manageress is that there is a shortage of locks.

This is gross inefficiency by the postal service.

Editor’s note:

Paul Powell, the operations manager of the Northmead Square, replies:

“I would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience the post office has caused you.

“A new branch manager has since been employed in an attempt to resolve all of the above concerns you have raised to create greater efficiency when collecting your mail.

“I have been in communication with him and may I suggest you kindly report to the post office at Northmead Square and ask for JP Smal who is in possession of the new locks and keys?

“He has since implemented a register in the interim to list all customers who have post boxes as a more efficient means of control.

“Lastly, a newly updated register will be implemented in October when the renewal of the post boxes are due.

“He has informed me all boxes not paid for will be terminated and new customers sourced.”

Johan Kruger, of the SA Post Office, replies:

“A replacement box lock has been arranged for the customer.

“The client must talk to JP Smal, the branch manager.”
