Rubbish pile grows at Northmead station

Robert Briscoe writes:

I write this letter to you as a concerned resident of First Avenue, Northmead, who is concerned about the amount of rubbish (rubbish bags, trees, bricks, rubble and torn refuse bags) which lie opposite our homes.

Send your letters to bctletters@caxton.co.za

The council’s refuse collectors pick up the rubbish every Friday, but they drive past these bags on the other side of the road.

A long time ago they used to send a truck with a few people who would take away these bags and sweep up.

It is an eyesore when we open our gates.

I have tried contacting the council on various occasions, but there is no luck.

Our homes and suburb is our pride, but this is getting out of hand, especially close to the Northmead Train Station bridge that crosses over the N12 highway.

Editor’s note:

The letter was sent to the municipality.
