Newer is not better

It is prominent, it leans and there is a crater around it.

To see this monstrosity every time I come home is upsetting.

Had it been like that when I bought my home 34 years ago, I do not think I would have got past the gate.

Surely the municipality can come up with something better; the previous fire hydrant was unobtrusive.

Newer is certainly not better.
