Professional service is appreciated

On November 21 my wife and I had to go to the Northmead Clinic in Hospital Road, as we relocated to Benoni.

We arrived at 6.45am and, according to my estimation, there were already about 100 people in the queue.

The gates were opened by 7.30am and by then, the queue was about 150 people strong.

We left at noon and by that time about 200 people had gone through the doors of the clinic.

Why do I mention this?

To show the magnitude of the people that the clinic has to serve, more or less every day.

In spite of the number of people, by 9.00am, files for my wife and I were opened and she joined the queue for her chronic medication.

Take note that they were working with a shortage of staff – and only one medical doctor.

The nurse had to take each and every one’s blood pressure, before they could see the doctor.

By noon, my wife had her blood pressure measured, was examined by the only doctor and booked for an appointment with the optometrist – and for this, we have the greatest respect and appreciation for the professionalism of the doctor; because she insisted on that, as my wife is under medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol.

It’s actually a disgrace that many people there and even the thousands that visit municipal clinics daily, take it for granted and complain about trivial issues, like the time they have to wait in queues.

I only have the greatest respect and appreciation for the untiring efforts of nursing staff and doctors at clinics; especially the Northmead Clinic.

They do a hell of a job and after all, it doesn’t cost us a cent.

Thanks Northmead Clinic staff, to think that you cope with this pressure five days a week, 52 weeks a year.

After all of this, you stay professional and friendly.

A full 10 out of 10 for you.
