Taxis make illegal turns

Our Benoni traffic officers have been very persistent with trapping along Pretoria Road, but we seem to have a unique problem of road safety on this road which they haven’t tackled.

Taxis drive through the intersections of Pretoria Road and Robinson Street and Pretoria Road and Rickard Street, spot a potential customer in a side street, and reverse back through the same intersection, regardless of other traffic crossing at the same time.

This hazard now happens on such a regular basis and without any care for anyone else’s safety, that one can sit there at any time of any day (especially at rush hour) and record this new style of endangering lives on our roads.

Can the traffic department please assist?
