Terrified dog bites owner

Re: Fireworks attack called Deepavali, Chinese New Year, Guy Fawkes, Christmas (yes can you believe it?) and New Year.

My sister, a resident of McKenzie Park was bitten by her terrified dog during the Deepavali celebrations on Wednesday, October 22.

She received stitches but developed an infection and was discharged from hospital on October 30.

Scaring the living daylights out of pets, birds and humans (the elderly and young children) is contrary to Hindu dharma and contrary to the spirit of Deepavali.

The selling of fireworks used to fall under the Arms and Ammunition Act and, though I am not sure who the controlling body is now, they are clearly not doing their job.

If it is, indeed, illegal to discharge Big Bang fireworks in a residential area then why are they still being allowed to be sold in shops?

Why is the importation of fireworks still allowed if they are indeed illegal and no one controls them?

Let’s hope there is not a repeat of this by the firework morons on Guy Fawkes.
