A pleasure to deal with Benoni SAPS

Cher Larkman writes by email:

Not unlike many Benoni residents, I have had to deal with the Benoni Police Station over the past few years, having become a victim, on more than one occasion, of crime.

I found them to be incompetent at best, lazy, unhelpful and overall a disgrace to the uniform they wear.

I walked away feeling frustrated after being given the run around on many occasions and eventually had to take a matter higher (at provincial level) just to get it addressed.

I accompanied my son this morning, as he had to open a case at the Benoni Police Station, and, to be honest, I was dreading having to go there.

I cannot begin to explain the change that has happened there.

The place was spotlessly clean, the policemen and women were well dressed and extremely polite.

The young constable who spoke to us admitted that she had never come across the situation my son was dealing with and she immediately called her commander, who made himself available to discuss the matter.

This gentleman was well spoken, knowledgeable, professional and extremely efficient.

He explained everything to the young constable and ensured that my son was dealt with promptly, with everything being explained to him.

I have to say that we left the Benoni Police Station with a sense of awe and wonder.

The total change that has been effected in the last few months is amazing. Once again I can say I am proud of our police force and it has given me hope that maybe, just maybe, the criminals have finally met their match.

I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to Benoni Police Station and all the officers.

It was pleasure having to deal with them.
