A picture-perfect addition to Homestead Dam

" I encourage everyone to tag us and share their experiences at the frame on social media, "said Gobby.

A gigantic photo frame was erected at Homestead Dam on August 23.

The frame serves as an invitation to all residents and visitors to snap memorable photos while they take in the breathtaking views of the richly diverse water body.

The brainchild of resident Wayne Lloyd of Raytoko (an independently owned family business), the frame was designed to provide a fun and interactive way for people to appreciate the natural beauty of the dam.

“We are excited to give back to the community. We aimed to create a special spot where people could enjoy the scenery and capture memories,” said Lloyd, one of the project’s organisers.

The frame is made of durable materials, designed to withstand the elements and provide a picturesque backdrop for photos that will be treasured for years to come.

Chairperson of Homestead Conservancy Chintan Patel, who works to ensure the dam keeps its record of being 99% hyacinth-free, said they are excited about the initiative as it will increase awareness of the area and serve as an attraction to tourists.

The Patels. Peta-Anne, Chintan and their nephew Dhruval Dhulab (4) have a fun moment at the dam.

Ward 28 Clr Mary Goby was thrilled to see the project finally finished.

“Raytoko suggested we get permission from the City of Ekurhuleni’s Tourism Department, and I was delighted that it was approved. I encourage everyone to tag us and share their experiences at the frame on social media.

“Finally, Benoni is right where it should be – on the map!”
