Two arrested for possession of unlicenced guns

The pair have appeared in the Benoni Magistrates Court.

Two Actonville residents were recently arrested for possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition.

According to the SAPS Ekurhuleni district communication officer Captain Nelda Sekgobela, while members of the Actonville SAPS were patrolling along Mayet Drive they stopped and searched two men.

“One of them was found with an unlicenced firearm, arrested and taken to the Actonville SAPS.”

Sekgobela said while the suspect was being charged, police asked if he knew anything about a business robbery that happened in the area over the weekend.

The two unlicensed firearms were recovered in Actonville.

He told police he was not involved but that his friend was.

“The suspect took the police to the Actonville Hostel where they found his friend in possession of an unlicensed firearm. He was also arrested and detained at the Actonville SAPS,” said Sekgobela.

The pair have appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
