18 public pools open in Ekurhuleni tomorrow

The entrance fee to all community pools as per the new tariffs is R11 per person and R15 for Delville (Germiston) and Boksburg North swimming pool, which are category A pools.

Following extensive maintenance and repairs done by the metro during winter, 18 public swimming pools reopen tomorrow (September 1).

Metro spokesman Zweli Dlamini said minor maintenance and repairs are still ongoing at the Vosloorus, Palm Ridge, Alberton, Benoni, Brakpan, Alra Park, Gerdview and Van Dyk Park swimming pools – these will open later in the season.

The entrance fee to all community pools as per the new tariffs is R11 per person and R15 for Delville (Germiston) and Boksburg North swimming pool, which are category A pools.

Category A pools are swimming pools that are Olympic-sized, heated indoor/outdoor and high-profile pools for the hosting of provincial, national and international events.

All swimming pools, except for Boksburg North and Delville, operate from Tuesday to Saturday (10:00 to 18:00) and from 14:00 to 18:00 on Sundays and public holidays.

Boksburg North swimming pool times are:
Tuesday to Thursday 05:00 to 20:00
Friday 05:00 to 17:30
Saturday 10:00 to 18:00
Sunday 14:00 to 18:00
Delville Swimming Pool times are the same except it closes at 17:00 on a Friday.

Schoolchildren will not be allowed entry to public swimming pools during school hours unless prior arrangements have been made by their schools.

This, however, is subject to approval by the City’s Sports and Recreation Department.

Swimming pools opening on September 1: Atlasville; Benoni Northerns; Birchleigh; Boksburg North; Daveyton; Delville; Duduza; Ebuhleni; Eden Park; Edenvale; Etwatwa; Faranani; Klopperpark; Kwa-Thema; Primrose; Reiger Park; Selection Park and Thokoza.
