Rotary reaches out to Daveyton organisation

Jimmy Matsho of Daveyton Bespoke Sewing School was honoured with a certificate of Rotary’s Service Above Self.

A group of Rotary Anns from the Benoni Aurora Club visited St Alban’s Anglican Church in Etwatwa, where the Etwatwa soup kitchen and the Daveyton Bespoke Sewing School are based.

They were accompanied by the governor of District 9400, Riana Pretorius and George Senoshe, district governor elect.

The Anns donated 100 smart meals, which include half a cup of rice, lentils, soup mix, stock cube and soup powder sealed in a packet.
They also donated biscuits, muffins and juice.

During the event, beneficiaries displayed the handmade items that they made over the past year.

Outgoing Anns president Sylvia Knoop arranged a certificate of service above self for Jimmy Matsho who runs the sewing school. He teaches locals how to sew so that they become self-sufficient.
